Dr. Fretzin hails from the North side of Chicago. He received his undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis with a major in philosophy. He completed medical school and an internship at the University of Chicago. He came to Indianapolis for his dermatology residency at Indiana University School of Medicine and received board certification by the American Board of Dermatology in 1997. During his dermatology residency he developed a specialty interest in the management of sexually transmitted diseases. Dr. Fretzin staffed a county STD clinic one day a week from 1997-2011.
Dr. Fretzin joined Dr. Dawes in 1997. Together they have directed the growth of the practice to encompass all aspects of dermatology including general and pediatric, surgical, cosmetic and research. They also established a med spa and offer cosmetic services such as Botox® injections, laser treatment, and chemical peels. In 2004, the doctors opened Dawes/Fretzin Clinical Research Group and have since participated in numerous clinical studies. They have researched new medications for skin diseases such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, skin cancer, and acne. They have also investigated new agents for non-dermatologic conditions such as diabetes.
